Some people think that belief in God is a crutch for weak people who cannot make it on their own. God is indeed a shield to protect us when we are too weak to face certain trials by ourselves, but He does not want us to remain weak. He strengthens, protects, and guides us in order to send us back into an evil world to fight for Him. Then He continues to to work with us because the strongest person on earth is infinitely weaker than God and needs His help.
The Lord Gives You a Choice…His Way or the World’s Way…And He will abide by that choice.
The Lord, through His Holy Spirit, stands ready, willing, and able to help us walk through our day, in His Peace…rather than in the chaotic and often painful way of the world and it’s false fronts and evil ways.
Psalm 18:30–God’s way is perfect. All the Lord’s promises prove true. He is a shield for all who look to him for protection.
These two different approaches tell an awful lot on what kind of person you have become:
1. A negative, reactive, self-sufficient, but unhappy person…full of pride, thinking that you can make it on your own without anyone’s help…
1 Corinthians 10:10-12–And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death. These things happened to them as examples for us. They were written down to warn us who live at the end of the age. If you think you are standing strong, be careful not to fall.
2. Or…A humble unto the Lord person; acknowledging your weaknesses and coming to the Lord in the times of trials, asking for His peace, assistance, and strength to handle the situation at hand together.
1 Corinthians 10:13–The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
The Lord gives you the choice and will abide by your choice. But He wants you to choose His peace and assistance because of His love for you, and the fact that He knows His plan for you is best for you.
Luke 1:78-79–Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us, to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”
Choose His help and thank Him for how He makes even the the trials and problems in your life work to your good.
Romans 8:28–And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
My Prayer for This day:
Lord, thank you for your Holy Spirit, which you have sent me by your eternal mercy and grace. Thank you for the effect your
Spirit has had on me, helping me to make it through each day, making choices that You would make, and being aware that choices always bring consequences that we have to live with forever. Lord, I thank you even for the trials you put in my life, and the lessons learned by enduring them. Lord, through your Presence in my life, I have learned to use your wisdom and strength to face my trials, knowing that you make all things, good and bad, work together for my good and your purpose for my life…and that Your peace and love are with me always.
My Verse of the Day:
John 14:6–Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
