In order to receive the Lord’s peace, joy, strength, and wisdom, we must have a mind that is still and free from the clutter of the sensual stimulation generated by the world around us. Only then can we be in a place where we can be receptive to the voice of His Presence.
The Lord’s still small voice is difficult to hear over the noise and over-stimulation of the senses we are subjected to each day.
1 Kings 19:12(KJV)–And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
To look for God in only something big (lightning, fire, earthquake- producing booming voice) may be to miss him because He is often found gently whispering in the quietness of a humbled heart.
Are you listening properly? Step back from the noise and activity of your busy life and listen humbly and quietly for His guidance, it may come when you least expect it.
Seek out a quiet haven in the morning, so that you may focus your senses on Him, who is unseen, but still all around you.
Come to the Lord in this quiet setting, with trust in your heart, thinking quiet thoughts to His spirit, asking Him to enable your eyes and ears to be sensitive to His Presence that is all around you in the outside world.
His natural world is brimming with evidence of His Presence and activity amongst the events unfolding every moment of the day…Your quiet time with Him in the morning helps you to be able to be aware of His unseen involvement in your life; as you go about your daily routine, moment by moment, each day of your life.
2 Corinthians 4: 16-18–That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.
My Prayer For This Day:
Lord, thank you for our morning meetings in the quiet sanctuary of your peaceful Presence. Lord, the world is full of distraction and temptation during the chaos of the day…so I thank you that we can have this time together; focusing on your Holy Word… as it touches my heart, renews my mind, and teaches it how to think good thoughts and act properly. Lord, thank you for opening my senses to the beauty of your creation around me; and how you seek peaceful settings to show both your love for me and your plans for me.
My Verse For This Day:
Romans 1:20–For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
