“Enter his gates with Thanksgiving, go into his courts with praise. Give Thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues FOREVER, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.” Psalm 100:4-5
We all know the drill… The big commercial hype for any given holiday, the hustle and bustle, spending, spending, and more spending… and a feeling of excitement about whatever we are celebrating.
Then the holiday comes, we have a great time (well, there always is dealing with relatives with issues) and then it’s back the next day cleaning up and going on with the humdrum of “normal” life as if the holiday we had just celebrated had never happened.
That’s fine and dandy for New Years, Halloween, and July Fourth.. But when it comes to Thanksgiving, (and also Christmas) we all need to take a step back and ponder this: Giving Thanks and Praise to the Lord for all He has blessed us with is not a one day deal.
We should be FOREVER thankful and continue to PRAISE HIM everyday, not just on a contrived commercial holiday.
After many years of wandering in the worldly, world of nothingness without the Lord in my life, I finally realized that He is in control of my life. And having learned that, He has enabled me to enjoy the abundant life He provides me… I count my blessings EVERYDAY, and I thank Him and praise Him for them EVERYDAY, not just on a Thanksgiving Holiday.
Thankfulness and Praise flows from your awareness of all the blessings you have received from His Presence in your life.
”And let the Peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. AND ALWAYS BE THANKFUL. Colossians 3:15
My Prayer for This Day:
Lord, I do thank you for the seen and unseen blessings you have put in my life. Some of those blessings have been trials that are meant to get my attention, and they have worked miracles. Lord, you have been the shepherd of my life, even when I wandered away from you. Thank you, Lord, for being my good shepherd ,and finding me when I was lost, and for bringing me back into your sheepfold. Amen
