So, December Means Christmas..So, What Are We Really Celebrating? Not A Trick Question!

“For to us a child is born…And he will be called Wonder ful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.     (Isaiah 9:6)

This is the holy month we celebrate God sending His Son to live amongst us…And save us from ourselves…And Give us His Peace…That Peace in our hearts is so important to us, as we need  it to remind us of His Presence in our daily lives. That Presence enables us to discern His Will, and act in our lives to accomplish His purpose for us. Sometimes we are tempted to take shortcuts on His prescribed path, which tends to distract us from His Presence and Guidance for the day. Keeping His Peace at the fore front of our minds keeps us from straying…

”Show me the right path O Lord; point out the road for me to follow. The lord is good and does what is right, He shows the proper path to those who go astray.” Psalm 25:4,8

It is the journey with Him on the path of life that brings us closer to Him, and enables us to be like Him. His primary guidance for following Him can be found in His Holy Word. By reading the Word every day, we celebrate His life in us, and His way of life for us. It give us peace, confirming that His Presence, through His Spirit,  is with us always.

So, as we start the hustle and bustle of the Christmas Holiday…Let us strive to remember what the holiday is all about…Not Trees, not presents… not eggnog… But the birth of our Savior, in a dirty little stable, attended to by a bunch of smelly shepherds, who were there to celebrate Him, and nothing else.

My Prayer for Today:

Dear Lord, thank you for your Peace in my heart that you have blessed me with over the past few years. That peace has given me a new strength and perspective to face the demons of  fear and anxiety in this broken world we live in, and to prepare me to follow you on the path of life which leads to your glory in Heaven. Amen
